ALBERTA FALL OPEN BY AMBASSADORS BJJ LEAGUE

Welcome to the 2023 Alberta Spring Open by Ambassadors BJJ League! Are you ready to compete against the best and, on top of that, get the chance to be sponsored by the League to IBJJF competitions?

Date and location:
• April 8, 2023 
• Location: Spray Lake Sawmills Family Centre, Cochrane, Alberta

We recommend using Google Chrome as your Internet browser.

• Door opens for competitors and spectators at 08:00 a.m.

• Competition starts at 09:00 a.m.

Spectator entry Fee: CAD $15.00.

NOGI Grand Prix Rules; 

Two belt divisions: 

White/Blue  - 7 minute rounds; no points to be awarded in the first half of the match; Then standard IBJJF blue belt rule set - first half of the match; submissions only.

Purple/Brown/Black;  no points to be awarded in the first half of the match - Then standard IBJJF black belt rule set - first half of the match; submissions only.

Every child under 16 will have the right for 1 adult to keep them company. NAME OF THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN ACCOMPANYING THE CHILD MUST BE GIVEN AT REGISTRATION OR TICKET WILL HAVE TO BE BOUGHT!

Please present yourself at the gi check & weigh-in area, prepared to compete, no more than 40 minutes before your call time and no less than 20. Call times continually update live on the Smoothcomp website AND ARE DYNAMIC. NO WEIGH INS FOR ADULTS BEFORE ALL KIDS BRACKETS ARE OVER.

You are responsible for keeping track of your call time, keeping in mind you may be called early.

Check the website http://ibjjf.com/uniform/ for more information on uniform guidelines. Where your chosen category cannot be accommodated, you will be moved to the next most suitable available category.

For Adults and Masters, this may mean moving down an age group or up a weight division. For Junior & Juveniles, this may mean moving up an age group, up a weight or in some circumstances, merging Male and Female categories into a Mixed category.

****Kids will be placed in a bracket according to the year they were born, so, for example, every kid born in 2011 will be in the 12-year-old bracket, according to their belt division****

Ambassadors BJJ League Mission Statement

The Ambassadors BJJ League is a professionally run League, with the mission of expanding the reach of BJJ competitions in Alberta. Our tournaments are conducted with the highest level of integrity, camaraderie and sportsmanship, with our athletes, staff, and officials always keeping safety in mind. We strive to be the competitive birthplace and proving grounds of champions who will show the strength of Alberta BJJ to the world!

• All the competitors must wear uniform according to IBJJF guidelines.

• ALL women and kids are allowed to wear rashguards for this competition.

• All kids will have a minimum of 2 matches.

• No submissions will be allowed in any brackets in the 5-6yo age group. Kids 7 and older will comply with regular IBJJF rules.

• We will offer sponsorships by the Ambassador’s League Program to help athletes compete at major events such as Pan Ams, Worlds, and Masters Worlds. More info about this program will be rolled out shortly. The winners will be the Ambassadors of Alberta BJJ.

• This is our first tournament for the year.

OPEN WEIGHT

***Any athlete can register for the absolute divisions. Registrations day of will not be accepted.

You must complete a minimum of 2 scheduled matches to receive full points. If only 2 athletes register for the open class of a given bracket, that person will receive a gold medal, but the points in the ranking will count as a regular division.

1st place - 6 points

2nd place - 3 points

3rd place - 1 point

Absolute division

1st place - 12 points

2nd place - 5 points

3rd place - 3 points
